Welcome to Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, Canada

The Town of Churchbridge is a welcoming and inclusive community, which is centrally located, whether for work or play.  We pride ourselves on having an excellent school system and being community focused.

Located along Highway 16 between the Manitoba border and Yorkton, we are home to a daycare, pre-school and a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school. We are in close proximity to the Mosaic Potash Mines, and we are definitely a growing community.  Our population has increased by 40% per cent and our school enrolment has grown by more than 50 students since 2009.

Ammonia Concerns in Churchbridge Water

The following was issued by the Water Security Agency (WSA) in response to an article printed in the
Four-Town Journal in October:

The Water Security Agency and the Town of Churchbridge have been working closely over the past several years to monitor the levels of Ammonia in the Town's source water.  The Town of Churchbridge's deep wells are  true groundwater sources that are rated as low risk for microbial contamination of the source water.  Since 2009 (to present) the Town is required to regularly monitor the ammonia in the raw water supply.  The Waterworks and Sewage Works Regulations also mandate the requirement for primary disinfection of drinking water as a treatment step to inactivate any microorganisms such as pathogenic bacteria or viruses that may be present in a raw water supply.

Ammonia in a raw water supply decreases the effectiveness of disinfection.  In Churchbridge's case, due to the high levels of Ammonia in the Town's raw water, additional treatment is required to remove or lessen the ammonia levels to ensure effective primary disinfection takes place.  While the Town currently doesn't meet the requirement of primary disinfection, they have continued to move ahead to address the ammonia issue.  The Town has hired Catterall & Wright to come up with a cost effective solution to secure the future of the Town of Churchbridge's drinking water and is now meeting the Water Security Agency expectation to address the concerns associated with ammonia in its raw water supply.
