Churchbridge
Daycare Facts
Employment:
We currently employ 5 full
time, 5 permanent part time and approximately 7 casual staff.
Our wages total approximately $10,000 per month. We have employment
standards and education requirements that must be met and
pride ourselves on having well educated and trained staff.
|
|
Families:
We have 75 registered families, 48 (87 children)
of which are currently, actively using our services. Our families
live in and around the surrounding communities of Churchbridge,
Langenburg, Bredenbury, Yorkton, Stockholm and Spy Hill. We
welcome all new families with open arms and encourage families
to call or drop in to arrange a tour or some private time
with one of our staff for answering any questions they may
have.
Facility:
Our facility is located in
the Churchbridge Cultural Center (former Elementary School).
We started with 2 rooms in the center and have now expanded
to half of the entire building.
The
children are divided into 3 separate rooms by age group; infants,
toddlers/preschoolers, kindergarten and school age. We have
our own “small children” equipped playground and
encourage as much outside play time as possible.
|
Routine
& Programming:
Our facility has a daily routine in each child care
room that is tailored for each age group. Quality, age-appropriate
programming is provided to the children in each room. This programming
includes: circle time, storytelling, art & craft activities,
gross motor activities, number and letter recognition activities,
and numerous activities designed to teach self help skills,
cooperation, and problem-solving. |

|
|
Meals:
We provide healthy meals and snacks to all our children and
staff in the morning, at lunch and in the afternoon. All lunches
are a “hot meal”, for example, roast beef, mashed
potatoes, gravy, vegetables and milk. Our menus follow nutritional
guidelines and are checked over by a nutritionist. We encourage
the children to try new foods and to use their manners. We
even have a full time cook on staff!
Atmosphere:
The daycare staff members prides themselves on their ability
to provide a fun, educational and loving atmosphere to all
children in their care. Each staff and board member has a
personal commitment to the children at the center. When the
children leave happy, satisfied and fulfilled, our jobs have
been completed!

 |
Finances:
We currently receive government
funding for some of our 40 childcare spaces. This funding is
used to offset the cost of staff wages and to keep the cost
of childcare to our families at a reasonable rate. We strive
to provide quality, cost effective childcare to all of our families.
Government funded childcare spaces, donations and fundraising
events are needed to cover the operating costs. This is a common
situation through the childcare community and all daycare facilities
face the same situation. |
| Our
current monthly budget consists of approximately $13,900 in
monthly income (which includes $400 in fundraising proceeds)
and $13,500 in monthly expenses. This leaves us with an approximate
income of $400 per month that is earmarked for unexpected expenses,
increased staff wages, budget overruns or replacing equipment
and other capital purchases that are needed.

Our
Community:
Churchbridge and the surrounding area have been a great resource
and support system. The daycare could not have started or continue
to be in operation without them. We appreciate all the donations
of toys, furniture, funds, time, and words of encouragement
that we have received from our fellow organizations, businesses,
and members of the community. We all should feel very proud
that our community has built such a great center together! |
 |
Our
Staff:
No
words can express the gratitude that the board has for our staff.
We have a fantastic group of dedicated people who are willing
to work through fundraising activities, renovations, staff changes,
maternity leaves, educational requirements and more, all while
keeping a smile on their face and a child on their hip! We appreciate
you, your work, your commitment and the time that you give the
children, the center, the board and our community every day!
Keep up the good work – and “Thank You” to
all Early Childhood Educators! |
