Pursuant
to Section 188 of The Urban Municipality Act, 1984 the lifetime
of all water and sewer lines is determined to be 20 years.
The owner of property with water and sewer service lines 20
years or older shall be responsible for any repair, maintenance
or replacement of the water & sewer service lines from
the curb stop to the interior face of the outer walls of the
building serviced.
It
is the homeowners responsibility to conduct an audit on their
main resident valve to detect if the valve is in working order.
When Town employees are called to shut off a curb stop in
order for a resident to repair their main resident valve it
will be at the homeowner’s expense.
No
repair, maintenance or replacement of the water & sewer
lines from the mains to the outer line of the street shall
be undertaken without the prior approval of the Town. The
Town of Churchbridge shall be responsible for the cost of
the repair, maintenance or replacement of the curb stop.
